Uganda Cranes defender Kenneth Semakula has taken the next leap in his career, signing a two-year deal with Saudi Arabian outfit Al Adalah Club. The versatile defender’s contract will run until 2027, adding a fresh chapter to his fast-rising football journey.

The move comes only months after Semakula had joined Kuwait’s Al Arabi SC from Tunisian giants Club Africain. His time in the Gulf has already been eventful, he recently featured in the Saudi King’s Cup, where his new employers Al Adalah bowed out against heavyweights Al Hilal in the round of 32.

Semakula’s story is one of steady ascent. He first honed his craft at Jinja SS before stepping onto the Uganda Premier League stage with Busoga United. A subsequent switch to BUL FC sharpened his defensive edge, but it was at SC Villa that he carved his name into Ugandan football history, captaining the side to a record-extending 17th league crown. That triumph cemented his place in the national team set-up, where he continues to be a mainstay for the Cranes.

Al Adalah, meanwhile, offers a fresh platform. Based in Al Hulaylah, the club is known as the “Knights of the Oasis” and competes in Saudi Arabia’s second tier. They play their home fixtures at the Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Sport City in Al Ahsa, under the guidance of Slovak tactician Martin Ševela.

Semakula’s shift represents both continuity and ambition, continuity in his steady march across North Africa and the Middle East, and ambition as he tests his resilience in one of Asia’s most competitive football landscapes.
