Maroons FC have received a timely boost ahead of their Uganda Premier League encounter with Police FC following the return of midfielder Ivan Asaba from injury.
The gifted playmaker has been given a clean bill of health after recovering from a concussion he picked up earlier this month in a friendly against Vipers SC, a setback that ruled him out for several weeks.
Asaba, who was named on the bench but did not feature in Maroons’ opening-day draw with BUL FC, has since missed the subsequent ties against UPDF FC and Calvary FC. His absence was notably felt in midfield, where the Prison Warders struggled for fluency and creativity.

On Tuesday, the Luzira outfit took to their official social media pages to share photos of Asaba back in full training, accompanied by the upbeat caption: “fully fit and reloaded.”
The 23-year-old, once on the books of both KCCA FC and Vipers’ Junior Team, joined Maroons in July last year but is still seeking to stamp his authority on the side. His return is expected to hand head coach Muhammad Senfuma more depth and tactical flexibility in the middle of the park.
Maroons currently occupy 10th place on the Uganda Premier League table with four points from their opening three games, and Asaba’s comeback could not have come at a better time as they prepare for a tough trip to face an in-form Police FC.
