BUL FC head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko made a low-key return to the dugout on Thursday as his side battled to a draw against Express FC in the Uganda Premier League at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
The fixture was Kikomeko’s first appearance on the touchline since serving a six-month suspension imposed by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel earlier this year. The coach had been banned and fined UGX 5 million for misconduct during a Uganda Cup tie against Kitara FC, where he was found guilty of violent behaviour towards a steward and issuing threats to match officials.
The sanction sidelined him for the closing stages of last season and the early rounds of the current campaign, but his comeback coincided with a gritty performance from his table-topping side.

After the stalemate, Kikomeko was content with the outcome, noting that his players stood firm against a rejuvenated Express side.
“We knew Express would be a hard team to beat. They changed their playing style, and we expected them to give us a hard time, and indeed it was,” said the tactician. “But we fought tooth and nail to at least get a point.”
BUL created several scoring opportunities but lacked the finishing touch that could have secured all three points. Still, Kikomeko took heart from the display, insisting it provides a solid platform to build upon:
“We got a couple of chances that we didn’t convert, but with this draw, we can build on that.”
The Jinja-based outfit remain top of the standings with nine points from five matches, setting up an intriguing encounter with NEC FC next.
“Against NEC, it’s another tough game, but we have time to prepare, rectify our mistakes, and see that we can get maximum points,” he added.

For Kikomeko, the return marks more than just a resumption of duty, it signals a chance for redemption and renewed focus as BUL chase another strong campaign.
