Uganda Premier League side URA FC have officially ended their working relationship with head coach Alex Isabirye, bringing his second stint at the club to a close after a stretch of disappointing performances.

The departure, described as mutual, also sees the entire technical support team exit with him, Baker Kasule (second assistant coach), Damba Jamil (goalkeeping coach) and Patrick Asiku Crespo (third assistant coach).

The decision follows URA FC’s 2–1 defeat to KCCA FC on Friday, a result that further deepened the club’s struggles this season.

Isabirye, who returned to the Tax Collectors last season with hopes of restoring the club’s competitive edge, instead found himself navigating a turbulent period marked by inconsistency and unfulfilled expectations.

Appointed in May 2023, the experienced tactician oversaw 36 matches, managing 17 victories, 9 draws, and 10 defeats during his tenure.

Despite the recent challenges, Isabirye remains one of Uganda’s most accomplished coaches, having handled top sides including Vipers SC, Express FC, BUL FC, Soana, Kyetume FC, Nyamityobora, and even Somalia’s Horseed SC.

URA FC is now set to usher in a new chapter, with sources indicating that Hussein Mbalangu is currently the frontrunner to take over the head coaching role, with an announcement expected before the end of the week.
