URA FC have wasted no time restructuring their technical setup after showing Alex Isabirye and his entire backroom staff the exit door, following a rough spell that plunged the club into instability.

The club’s sweeping changes, which also saw assistants Baker Kasule, Patrick Asiku and goalkeeping coach Jamil Damba relieved of their duties, have triggered an urgent hunt for a fresh leadership team to steady the ship.

At the forefront of URA’s early shortlist are two familiar heavyweights: Hussein Mbalangu and Morley Byekwaso.

Mbalangu, who recently parted ways with NEC FC, is viewed as a commanding presence with a track record of injecting discipline and identity into struggling sides.

Byekwaso, on the other hand, has largely been off the club circuit this season but strengthened his stock in August after guiding the Uganda Cranes to the CHAN 2025 quarterfinals, a run many still credit to his tactical clarity and player management.

With the evaluation process underway, the Tax Collectors have placed Edward Golola at the helm in an interim capacity. He is expected to marshal the team through Wednesday’s crucial league clash against Buhimba Saints United at the newly refurbished Nakivubo Stadium.

URA are expected to accelerate their decision-making in the coming days as they look for a long-term figure capable of revitalizing a season that is quickly slipping off track.
