Despite initially reaching a verbal agreement, Uganda Premier league giants KCCA FC are set to walk away from the pursuit of youthful Ugandan international Rogers Mugisha, Footy-Uganda can exclusively confirm.
The pacy winger was slated to join the 13-time Ugandan champions, with an agreement on the sign-on bonuses and salary agreed, but the player failed his medical tests conducted earlier on Saturday at the teamโs training ground in Lugogo.
The club is now undecided on whether to push the deal through and incur the medical expenses or to drop out of the deal. Newly appointed co-coach Brian Ssenyondo is insisting on the move, while his partner, Jackson Magera wants the team to focus on other available players.
“He failed the medical tests done this morning and there’s every bit of uncertainty at the moment. Brian Ssenyondo still wants him, but Jackson ะagera wants out of the deal. We’re yet to receive an official communication,โ Bashir Sentamu, his manager told Footy-Uganda in an exclusive interview.
Mugisha spent the 2024/25 season at Kitara FC having joined them last year after his departure from Danish second tier side AC Horsens. He has also previously featured for UPDF FC and Gor Mahia in Uganda and Kenya, respectively.
Meanwhile, at the international stage, the 22-year-oldย has been through the various national youth level ranks, playing for the U17s, U20s and the U23 team. He has also so far managed two competitive caps with the senior team, the Uganda Cranes.
