Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC are set to part ways with experienced left-back Derrick Ndahiro after negotiations over a new contract hit a deadlock, Footy-Uganda can exclusively confirm.

The defender’s current deal with the Kitende-based side is nearing its conclusion, but despite efforts from both parties, an agreement on fresh terms has not been reached.

Sources indicate that while Ndahiro remains highly regarded by the club’s top hierarchy for his professionalism, consistency, and contribution during his spell at the club, discussions over an extension have stalled in recent weeks, leaving his future away from St. Mary’s Stadium increasingly likely.

Ndahiro joined the Venoms ahead of the 2024/25 season and went on to become a key figure in the squad. During his stay, he made 43 appearances across the Uganda Premier League, Uganda Cup, and CAF Champions League, helping the club secure two league titles and one Uganda Cup trophy.

The 28-year-old’s experience, defensive solidity, and attacking support from the left flank made him a valuable asset, but Vipers appear ready to move in a different direction as they plan for the upcoming campaign.

Footy-Uganda understands that the club has already shifted its focus to securing the services of left-back Nicholas Mwere, who recently became available after being released by BUL FC.

Mwere is viewed as a strong candidate to strengthen the left side of defence, with Vipers keen to finalize reinforcements ahead of a demanding season that will include domestic and continental assignments.

Before joining Vipers, Ndahiro featured for SC Villa, URA FC, and Rwanda’s Police FC, building a reputation as one of the most reliable left-backs in the region.

Unless there is a dramatic breakthrough in negotiations, Ndahiro is expected to leave Vipers in the coming weeks, bringing an end to a successful spell that delivered silverware and memorable performances in the club’s colours.
