NEC FC have commenced a significant squad reshuffle ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, with experienced midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba and defender Patrick Bayiga leading a list of five players released by the club.
The departures were officially confirmed on Thursday, with both Mutyaba and Bayiga leaving after the expiration of their contracts.
In a farewell message, the club paid tribute to the outgoing players, saying:
“Every journey has its final whistle. Your dedication to the badge will always be appreciated. Wishing you all the very best in your future endeavours.”
The pair spent the last two seasons at the Lugogo-based outfit but struggled to secure regular minutes during the previous campaign, particularly following the departure of former head coach Hussein Mbalangu.
Also heading for the exit are Jackson Ssembatya, Siraje Sentamu and Timothy Muwanguzi, whose contracts have been terminated by mutual agreement as NEC continue to reshape their squad.

Ssembatya has already completed a move to Kitara FC, while Sentamu is widely expected to join Express FC before the new season gets underway.
Despite the departures, NEC are yet to unveil any new signings during the current transfer window. However, sources indicate the club is on the verge of landing reigning Uganda Premier League Young Player of the Season Enrique Lubwama, with negotiations understood to be at an advanced stage.
