Kitara FC have continued to reinforce their squad ahead of a packed 2026/27 campaign by securing the signature of experienced midfielder Nicholas Kasozi on a two-year contract.
The combative holding midfielder arrives as a free agent following the expiration of his stint with Tanzanian Premier League outfit Kagera Sugar FC, marking his return to the Uganda Premier League after a spell across the border.
His arrival also reunites him with head coach Wasswa Bbosa, a manager who played a significant role in shaping Kasozi’s career during their previous time together.
“I’m delighted that I’m going to be playing in the Uganda Premier League again, and for Kitara Football Club,” Kasozi said after completing his move. “I’ve worked with coach Wasswa Bbosa before, and he is one of the coaches that helped me grow my career, so I hope our reunion will be a great one. At Kitara, I bring healthy competition and character to the team, and I believe we shall succeed together.”
Kasozi returns with a wealth of top-flight experience and a reputation as one of the league’s most disciplined defensive midfielders. Calm under pressure and tactically intelligent, he excels at shielding the backline while initiating attacks with his crisp distribution and intelligent reading of the game.
His ability to control possession from deep, coupled with his work rate and composure in congested areas, made him a standout target for Kitara’s technical team as the Royals seek to add both quality and experience to their midfield department.
The midfielder’s journey has been defined by consistent performances across some of Ugandan football’s biggest institutions. He first rose to prominence with the now-defunct Synergy FC before earning a breakthrough move to SC Villa in 2017. He later featured for KCCA FC, Kyetume FC and Express FC, building an impressive domestic résumé before embarking on a Tanzanian adventure with Kagera Sugar.
His return to Uganda comes at an important moment for Kitara, who are preparing for one of the busiest seasons in the club’s history. The Royals will compete on four fronts, including the FUFA Super 8, Uganda Premier League, Stanbic Uganda Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup.
For Bbosa, landing a player whose qualities and personality he already understands provides an added layer of stability. Kasozi’s experience, leadership and defensive discipline are expected to play a key role as Kitara pursue silverware domestically while also aiming to make a strong impression in continental football.
