NEC FC have bolstered their midfield options after agreeing a two-year deal with Enock Tumwesigye, Footy-Uganda has learned.
The industrious midfielder arrives from newly promoted Uganda Premier League outfit Kigezi Homeboyz, ending an impressive spell with the Kabale-based club that saw him emerge as one of the standout performers in the FUFA Big League.
Tumwesigye was instrumental in Kigezi Homeboyz’s successful promotion campaign, combining tireless work in midfield with an eye for goal. Since joining the club from Kaaro Karungi FC in January 2025, he made 40 appearances, registering eight goals and eight assists during an influential one-and-a-half-year stay.
His move continues a growing recruitment trend between the two clubs. Tumwesigye becomes the third player to swap Kigezi Homeboyz for NEC within a year, following the arrivals of Charles Waibi and Joseph Seremba during the previous transfer window.
The signing is part of an extensive overhaul at the Silver Cup finalists, who have already sanctioned the departures of Siraje Sentamu, Timothy Muwanguzi, Muzamir Mutyaba, Patrick Bayiga and Jackson Ssembatya as they reshape the squad ahead of the new campaign.
NEC have also strengthened their attacking department with the acquisition of Uganda Cranes forward Fahad Bayo, who joined as a free agent following the expiration of his stint with North Macedonian side FK Vardar.
Tumwesigye is expected to add energy, physicality and attacking thrust to the midfield as NEC prepare for another ambitious Uganda Premier League campaign.
