Ugandan giants Sports Club Villa have bolstered their attacking ranks with the acquisition of towering striker Frank “Dube” Ssebufu, sealing a three-year contract ahead of the forthcoming Uganda Premier League season.
The 23-year-old goal poacher, who had been without a club since parting ways with Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls in December 2024, will now spearhead the Jogoos’ quest for domestic glory.
Ssebufu’s football journey has been one of steady rise through Uganda’s competitive ranks. He first announced himself on the national stage during his schoolboy days, famously netting the decisive goal for Buddo SS in the 2018 National Secondary Schools Football Championship final against Kimanya SS.
His exploits earned him a stint with Buddu in the Masaza Cup before breaking into the Uganda Premier League with Wakiso Giants, where his form paved the way for his American adventure in early 2023.
Villa, Uganda’s most decorated football club, have been busy reinforcing their squad this transfer window, with Ssebufu joining recent signings Ibrahim Kasinde, shot-stopper David Lukwago, and midfielder Geoffrey Gagganga.
With his aerial prowess, physical presence, and a knack for scoring crucial goals, Ssebufu is expected to be a key piece in Villa’s attacking puzzle as they look to reclaim their dominance in Ugandan football.
