Kitara FC’s memorable Stanbic Uganda Cup triumph was capped off with a clean sweep of the tournament’s major individual honours following their 2-1 victory over SC Villa in Saturday’s final at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
The Royals lifted their second Uganda Cup crown after overcoming the record champions in a dramatic contest decided by goals from Jimmy Kalema and an unfortunate own goal by Diego Misi Ssemugera. SC Villa had initially gone ahead courtesy of a Patrick Henry Kaddu own goal.
As celebrations erupted for the Hoima-based side, several of their standout performers were rewarded for their contributions throughout the competition.
Midfield maestro Gadafi Wahab emerged as the biggest individual winner of the campaign, walking away with both the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award and the Best Midfielder accolade after playing a pivotal role in Kitara’s successful run.
