After consecutive draws against Kitara FC and SC Villa, Vipers SC return to league duty with urgency, making the trip to face Buhimba United Saints at Royal Park Butema on Tuesday.

Yet, the spotlight ahead of this encounter stretches beyond form and tactics. The condition of the Butema playing surface has become a central talking point, raising serious concerns about its suitability for top-flight football.

On the road, up for the fight in Hoima ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿพ

Recent matches at the venue have painted a troubling picture. The pitch, far from meeting competitive standards, has been likened to overgrown terrain, disrupting the rhythm and flow expected at this level.

During Buhimbaโ€™s previous clash with Entebbe UPPC, frustrations surfaced over the excessive grass length, conditions that made controlled passing nearly impossible.

For Vipers, however, there is little room for distraction. The Venoms sit atop the table, holding a four-point advantage over KCCA FC, and remain unbeaten. With the title race tightening, even a difficult surface cannot justify a slip in momentum.

Their opponents arrive under pressure. Buhimba United Saints are enduring a difficult spell, winless in five outings, with their latest result, a 2-1 loss to Entebbe UPPC, further exposing their struggles.

History also tilts heavily in Vipersโ€™ favour. In the reverse fixture at St. Maryโ€™s Stadium, Kitende, the Venoms cruised to a commanding 4-0 victory. Milton Karisa struck twice, while Abubakali Walusimbi and Karim Watambala added their names to the scoresheet.

This time, though, the challenge may extend beyond the opposition. At Butema, the contest could hinge as much on adapting to the unpredictable pitch as it does on quality and execution.

For Vipers, the mission is clear: maintain their lead, overcome the conditions, and keep their title ambitions firmly on course.
