Vipers SC produced a ruthless display at St Maryโs Stadium, Kitende, thrashing UPDF FC 5-1 in a rescheduled Uganda Premier League clash that left the visitors overwhelmed from start to finish.
The Venoms, who had fallen behind on league fixtures due to their CAF Champions League engagements, wasted no time announcing their intent. Milton Karisa opened the floodgates, pouncing from close range after the UPDF backline failed to properly clear a teasing delivery from Usama Arafat.

From there, the match tilted entirely in Vipersโ favour. Gusto Mulongo, electric throughout the afternoon, doubled the advantage with a solo effort after being picked out by Allan Okello. UPDF briefly found a lifeline when Samuel Ssekamatte curled in a fine freekick to make it 2-1, but their hope lasted only moments.
On the brink of half-time, Mulongo restored the cushion, rising highest to nod in another pinpoint cross from Usama as Vipers went into the break firmly in control.
The second half offered no reprieve for the army side. A strike from Robin Kane Hney took a wicked deflection in the 56th minute to stretch the score to 4-1, before Moses Waiswa capped off the rout. After receiving from Ashraf Mandela, Waiswa showed composure to slide the ball through goalkeeper Abdul Kimeraโs legs, sealing a commanding victory.
The emphatic result lifts Vipers to 16 points, just one behind co-leaders KCCA and SC Villa, who have played two more matches. It also marks a strong response following their 1-1 stalemate with rivals Villa over the weekend.

For UPDF, the defeat adds to a worrying run, six losses in eight outings, leaving them third from bottom with only six points to their name.
Vipers will next be on the road, heading to Lugogo on Friday for a showdown with NEC FC.
