The Uganda U-17 national side, the Cubs, stormed to their second straight win at the 2026 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations qualifiers, dismantling Sudan in breathtaking fashion on Tuesday in Ethiopia.

Playing at the Dire Dawa Stadium in the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers, the young Ugandans delivered a merciless 9–0 masterclass, the most dominant result recorded at the tournament so far. The performance followed their confident 4–0 opening-day victory over Burundi on Saturday, underlining their early intent.

Sudan, who had already been battered 0–6 by Tanzania in their first outing, found no refuge against a Ugandan side brimming with confidence, structure and attacking flair. From the first whistle, the Cubs imposed their tempo and never looked troubled, turning the fixture into a procession.

Captain Owen Mukisa once again led by example, striking twice, repeating his brace from the Burundi game, to take his personal tally to four goals in just two matches.

Eze Kombi also notched a brace, while Thomas Ogema, John Brian Owino, Ismail Fahad, Babi Abdushakur and Arnold Kayemba each found the back of the net to complete the rout.

The emphatic win moves Uganda to six points and seals their place in the semifinals. Their next mission, however, is a decisive clash with fellow unbeaten side Tanzania on Friday, a contest that will determine the winner of Group B.

At this qualifier, the two finalists and the third-placed team secure places at the 2026 U-17 AFCON. Uganda, Tanzania and Somalia all featured at the most recent edition in Morocco, a campaign in which the Cubs excelled, progressing all the way to the FIFA U-17 World Cup and reaching the Round of 16 before bowing out to Burkina Faso.
