Kitara FC snatched a dramatic 2–1 victory over Police FC on Thursday evening in a lively Uganda Premier League contest at the Police Arena in Kira, thanks to a last-gasp finish from Isaac Atuhairwe.

The Royals made their intentions clear early on, breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute. Patrick Kaddu stepped up with confidence and buried a well-taken penalty, giving Kitara a deserved early advantage. They came agonizingly close to doubling that lead just before the break when Jimmy Kalema broke through the Police backline, only for goalkeeper Edward Kasibante to deny him with an outstanding save.

Police, however, returned for the second half with renewed purpose. Their efforts were rewarded in the 63rd minute when Lawrence Tezikya rose highest to nod home a superb delivery from Daniel Jakony’s free kick, pulling the Cops level and sending the home crowd into celebration.

Just when the match seemed destined to end in a stalemate, Kitara produced one final moment of brilliance deep into stoppage time. Atuhairwe reacted quickest in a congested box, steering the ball past Kasibante to seal all three points in emphatic fashion.

The hard-fought win propels Kitara to fourth place on the table with 13 points from seven outings. Police, despite the spirited fight, drop to third with 14 points collected from eight fixtures.
