Angolan midfielder Carlos da Silva Cungulo, better known in football circles as Gui, has been directed by FIFA to pay KCCA FC a sum of $4,000 following a contract dispute with the Ugandan club.

The FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) issued its verdict on October 13, 2025, ruling that Gui was in breach of his contractual obligations after abandoning the club during the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League campaign.

Gui joined the Kasasiro Boys in July 2023 on a two-year deal, but mysteriously went missing midway through the season without informing the club. His sudden disappearance sparked frustration within KCCA’s management, who subsequently escalated the matter to FIFA, accusing the midfielder of absconding from duty and violating his contract terms.

After reviewing submissions from both parties, the DRC partially sided with KCCA FC, ordering Gui to pay $4,000 to the club as compensation. However, the panel dismissed the club’s other claims for additional damages.

According to FIFA’s ruling, the player has 45 days from the date of notification to settle the amount in full. Failure to do so will attract sanctions, including a ban from official matches for up to six months, which will remain effective until the debt is cleared. Should Gui continue to default, the matter may be escalated to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee for further action.

The decision was rendered without costs, and both sides have been granted ten days to request the complete written reasoning through FIFA’s Legal Portal.

As of now, KCCA FC has not released a formal response, while Gui has remained silent on the ruling.
