Nairobi United Football Club have bolstered their defensive ranks with the acquisition of experienced Ugandan left-back Mustafa Kizza, completing a key cross-border signing ahead of the new campaign.

The 26-year-old has committed his future to the Kenyan outfit after agreeing to a two-year deal and will wear the number 21 shirt. His arrival adds pedigree and attacking thrust to Nairobi United’s left flank as the club continues to strengthen its squad.

Announcing the deal, the club expressed excitement over the capture of the Uganda Cranes international.

“We are delighted to announce the arrival of Ugandan left-back Mustapha Kizza from NEC FC. A proven Cranes international, Kizza brings experience, quality, and attacking intent down the left flank,” Nairobi United Football Club statement read.

Kizza makes the move from Uganda Premier League side NEC Football Club, where he had been a regular performer following his return from Egypt. He previously featured for Telecom Egypt before rejoining domestic football.

Well-travelled and battle-hardened, Kizza’s résumé spans several leagues and continents. He rose through Uganda’s youth ranks at U-20 and U-23 levels before making his mark at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). His career has also included stints with Express FC in Uganda, Portuguese side Arouca, and CF Montréal in Canada, where he gained valuable experience in Major League Soccer.

On the international stage, Kizza has earned 16 caps for the senior Uganda Cranes, contributing an impressive four goals from left-back, a testament to his attacking instincts.

His trophy cabinet reflects his time at KCCA, where he lifted two Uganda Premier League titles (2016–2017 and 2018–2019) and back-to-back Stanbic Uganda Cup crowns (2016–2017 and 2017–2018). He also tasted regional success with victory in the CECAFA Club Cup in 2019.

Renowned for his tireless engine, sharp distribution and accurate crossing, Kizza is expected to bring balance and width to Nairobi United’s play, offering both defensive solidity and offensive support.

In addition to Kizza, Nairobi United have also completed the signings of Roy Okal and John Njuguna, underlining their intent as they assemble a competitive squad for the season ahead.
