Ugandan midfielder Allan Okello delivered a commanding performance as Young Africans SC produced a ruthless attacking display to thrash Police FC 7-1 and book their place in the Round of 16 of the CRDB Federation Cup on Sunday night at the KMC Complex.
The Tanzanian giants were relentless from the opening whistle, overwhelming their opponents with pace, movement and precision in front of goal. At the heart of the demolition was Okello, whose creativity and vision saw him directly influence four goals in a performance that dictated the rhythm of the contest.
Yanga barely needed time to settle into the match. Just seconds after kickoff, the hosts struck first when Mudathir Yahya pounced on early pressure to calmly place the ball past the goalkeeper, setting the tone for what would become a long evening for Police.
With Yanga firmly in control, the second goal arrived in the 22nd minute. Laurindo Dilson Maria Aurelio, popularly known as Depu, unleashed a powerful effort that left the goalkeeper with no chance.
The forward continued his superb evening in the 34th minute when he finished off another flowing move. The attack began with Okello orchestrating play in midfield before Mudathir supplied the decisive pass for Depu to slot home.
Police’s difficulties compounded ten minutes before the break. Defender Joseph Majagi, attempting to clear an Okello effort that had ricocheted off the post, inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net to hand Yanga an even more comfortable advantage.

After the interval, the pattern of the game remained unchanged, with Yanga continuing to dominate possession and carve open their opponents. Depu soon completed his hat-trick in the 59th minute, meeting a perfectly weighted delivery from Okello to cap off a move that further highlighted the Ugandan’s influence on proceedings.
Police eventually got on the scoresheet in the 71st minute, although it came in unfortunate circumstances for the hosts when defender Frank Assinki accidentally turned the ball into his own net.
The brief consolation did little to alter the trajectory of the match. Substitute Buba Jammeh quickly made his presence felt, scoring in the 76th minute to restore Yanga’s overwhelming lead.
The final flourish arrived six minutes from time when Abdulnassir Mohamed drove the ball through a packed penalty area after a clever short-corner routine initiated by Okello.
By the final whistle, Yanga had secured a comprehensive victory and safe passage into the Round of 16.
The night, however, belonged to Okello, whose creativity, composure and attacking intelligence powered the Dar es Salaam side to one of their most emphatic wins of the campaign.
