Record champions SC Villa sealed their place in the 2026 Stanbic Uganda Cup final with another composed display against URA, edging the tax collectors 1-0 at the FUFA Stadium in Kadiba on Saturday to complete a commanding 3-0 aggregate triumph.

Holding a comfortable two-goal cushion from the opening leg, Villa head coach Zeljko Kovacevic resisted any temptation to rotate heavily and instead trusted a full-strength side to finish the job professionally.

URA showed early intent and began the contest on the front foot, pressing aggressively and trying to force an early breakthrough. However, their momentum gradually disappeared as Villa settled into the game and began dictating possession and territory.

The Jogoos carved out several promising openings before halftime but lacked the composure required in the final third, while URA’s backline stood firm to keep the contest level heading into the break.

Villa returned from halftime with greater urgency and attacking purpose. The introduction of Geoffrey Gaganga and Ibrahim Kasinde injected fresh energy into the hosts’ forward play, with the pair immediately causing problems for URA’s defence.

The decisive moment eventually arrived in the 75th minute. Kasinde unleashed a dangerous effort that forced defender James Begisa into a desperate intervention, only for the clearance attempt to end up in his own net and hand Villa the breakthrough.

URA nearly found a response late in the game through substitute Ssekibengo, who burst through on goal and struck an effort that beat goalkeeper David Lukwago. But with Villa seemingly exposed, the crossbar came to their rescue and denied URA a lifeline.

The victory sends SC Villa into their first Uganda Cup final in eleven years as they continue their pursuit of a record-extending 10th title. Their last triumph in the competition came in 2015 when they defeated KCCA 3-0 in the controversially replayed final at Namboole Stadium.

Villa will now battle Kitara in the final after the Hoima-based side stunned defending champions Vipers in Friday’s semi-final.
