The Uganda national football team will return to the pitch next month after FUFA confirmed two international friendly fixtures scheduled for the June FIFA international window.

Uganda Cranes are set to take on regional rivals Tanzania before facing Madagascar in a pair of preparatory matches that will be staged in Marrakech, Morocco.

According to the federation, the Cranes will first lock horns with Tanzania on June 5 before wrapping up the mini-tour with a clash against Madagascar three days later.

The upcoming friendlies will mark Uganda’s first appearance since their participation at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the team last featured in competitive action back in December.

The matches are expected to provide head coach and the technical bench with an opportunity to assess the squad ahead of a busy period that includes preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Uganda will co-host the continental tournament alongside neighbours Kenya and Tanzania, but despite automatic qualification as hosts, the Cranes will still participate in the qualification campaign.

During Tuesday’s 2027 AFCON Qualifiers draw, Uganda was placed in Group H together with Tunisia, Libya and Botswana.
