Vipers SC will have the opportunity to wrap up the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League crown on Tuesday when they take on Maroons FC at the Muteesa II Wankulukuku Stadium.

The Venoms currently occupy top spot on the league standings with 61 points, holding a three-point cushion over second-placed KCCA FC with only two fixtures left to play.

A victory against Maroons would automatically hand Vipers the league title, irrespective of the outcome between KCCA and URA FC at Nakivubo Stadium.

The Kitende-based side could also be crowned champions with a draw, provided KCCA fail to secure maximum points against URA.

When the two sides met earlier this season, Vipers registered a 2-1 triumph at St Maryโ€™s Stadium, Kitende. An own goal from Derrick Basoga handed the hosts the breakthrough before Usama Arafat extended the lead, while Raymond Walugembe netted a consolation for the Prison Wardens.

Maroons head into the encounter with little pressure, having already guaranteed their top-flight status. The Prison Wardens sit 10th on the table with 35 points collected from 28 matches.

Their recent form, however, has been uninspiring. They are winless in their last three outings and have failed to find the back of the net in their previous two matches, suffering a 3-0 defeat away to KCCA before settling for a goalless stalemate against UPDF FC.

Should Vipers secure the title, it’d be their eighth in history, only bettered by KCCA’s 13 and Villaโ€™s 17.
