Nairobi United Football Club have further underlined their ambition with the acquisition of Ugandan midfielder Charles Waibi, completing yet another cross-border deal from NEC Football Club.

The versatile midfielder only recently linked up with NEC after sealing a move from Kigezi Home Boyz FC, who compete in Uganda’s second tier. Despite his short stay, Waibi has now earned a swift switch to Kenya, where Nairobi United continue to aggressively reshape their squad.

Waibi’s arrival makes him the fourth NEC player to cross over to the Kenyan capital this season. He follows in the footsteps of experienced left backs Mustafa Kizza and Gideon Odongo, as well as gifted playmaker Titus “Tito” Ssematimba, all of whom have already completed moves to the club.

At Nairobi United, Waibi has been handed the number three jersey, a clear signal of the trust placed in his versatility and work rate ahead of the demanding Kenya Premier League campaign.

The club’s transfer activity did not end there. Nairobi United have also secured the signature of Steve Biko Omollo, bringing the commanding central defender on board from Kariobangi Sharks FC to bolster their defensive options.

We are delighted to confirm the signing of Charles “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫” Waibi.

On the pitch, the investment is already paying dividends. Nairobi United recorded an impressive 2–0 victory over KCB on Thursday, 15th January 2026, with goals from Dancan Omala and Ovella, extending their positive momentum in the league.

Nairobi United operate under the patronage of Nairobi City County Governor Johnson Arthur Sakaja, a prominent figure within Kenya’s political landscape and a member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), whose backing continues to fuel the club’s rapid rise and bold transfer strategy.
