URA FC delivered a breathtaking turnaround to knock out ten-time champions KCCA FC from the Stanbic Uganda Cup, clawing back from a two-goal deficit before sealing a 4-2 victory in a tense penalty shootout.

The quarterfinal clash at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, fresh off its centenary celebrations, unfolded into a gripping contest that saw momentum swing dramatically. KCCA looked firmly in control for long spells, with Saidi Mayanja opening the scoring before Herbert Achai doubled the advantage after the break.

However, URA refused to fold. With time slipping away, John Innocent Kisolo ignited hope for the tax collectors, and Ronald Otti completed the comeback in the dying moments, forcing the tie into extra time and eventually penalties after a 2-2 stalemate.

In the shootout, goalkeeper Muhammed Ssekebba emerged as the hero, producing two crucial saves to tilt the contest in URA’s favour. Joseph Ssemujju, captain Moses Aliro Okabo, Ronald Otti, and Isma Mugulusi all held their nerve to convert from the spot.

KCCA faltered under pressure despite successful efforts from Joel Sserunjogi and Ashraf Mugume. Herbert Achayi and Enock Walusimbi both saw their penalties denied by the outstanding Ssekebba, while URA’s Dissan Galiwango missed his attempt after a save from Mutwalib Mugolofa.

The result sends URA into the semifinals of the 52nd edition of the competition, joining Vipers SC, who had earlier edged out NEC FC.

Attention now shifts to the remaining quarterfinal fixtures, with Kitara FC set to host Express FC on Easter Sunday in Butema, while SC Villa will face Happy Boyz Kagaba on Monday to complete the semifinal lineup.
