Vipers SC sent a strong message to the rest of the title contenders with a commanding 4-1 dismantling of Police FC under the lights at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday night, further entrenching their authority at the top of the Uganda Premier League table.
The Venoms set the tempo from the first whistle, pressing aggressively and pinning Police deep in their own half. Just three minutes in, Brian Obedi showed sharp anticipation to nick the ball off Ashraf Mandela near the edge of the area, but his hurried finish failed to trouble the scoreboard.

Vipers continued to swarm forward and were close again moments later when Enock Ssebagala unleashed a thunderous strike that forced Police goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga into a reflex save, with his defence scrambling to clear the danger.
The breakthrough arrived in the 32nd minute. Karim Watambala, once again at the heart of everything positive for the hosts, teed up skipper Milton Karisa, who muscled his way through before rifling home to finally give Vipers a deserved lead.
The floodgates soon opened. With four minutes left before the interval, Watambala turned scorer, smashing in a ferocious effort that cannoned off the crossbar before dipping over the line. Barely had Police regrouped when they were hit again; Odili Chukwuma rose highest from close range to nod home a composed header, making it three as the hosts headed into the break in complete control.
Police showed brief signs of resistance after the restart and were rewarded when Saidi Kyeyune pulled one back, his low drive sneaking through a crowded penalty area to beat the goalkeeper.
Any hopes of a comeback, however, were swiftly extinguished. In the 73rd minute, Yunus Sentamu delivered an inch-perfect cross that Usama Arafat met with a towering header, restoring Vipers’ three-goal cushion and sealing a comprehensive night’s work.
