Vipers Sports Club will usher in their 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season this Saturday with a challenging away encounter against top-flight newcomers Entebbe UPPC at the Bugonga Grounds.

Fresh from their early exit in the CAF Champions League at the hands of Zambiaโ€™s Power Dynamos, the reigning champions have quickly turned their attention to home soil. Head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert has demanded a strong response from his side as they set out to retain their domestic crown and reassert their dominance on the local scene.

Minnaertโ€™s squad carries a refreshed look this campaign, an exciting blend of experience and youthful energy. The likes of skipper Milton Karisa, Yunus Sentamu, Enock Luyima, and Odili Chukwuma are expected to shoulder leadership duties, while several new signings are knocking on the door for league debuts, eager to make an instant impact.

Their hosts, Entebbe UPPC, are not to be underestimated. Formerly Gaddafi FC, the Bugonga-based side have made a respectable return to the elite division, collecting seven points from their first four games to sit comfortably mid-table. Under the stewardship of Abdallah Mubiru, they have shown tactical maturity and resilience, qualities that could test the championsโ€™ resolve.

Historically, Vipers hold the upper hand in this fixture, winning four of the last six meetings. Yet, the goalless draw in their most recent clash at Kitende serves as a reminder that Entebbe can frustrate even the strongest of sides.

Saturdayโ€™s contest promises contrasting styles, Vipers likely to dominate possession and press high up the pitch, while Mubiruโ€™s charges will aim to stay compact, soak up pressure, and hit on the counter when the opportunity arises.
